Case for Support

A case for support is a document which helps communicate to a donor.  By giving you a means to start a conversation with a donor, a case for support helps you:

  • Talk to your donors
  • Bring consistency to your communication
  • Communicate how chaplaincy makes a difference –the impact
  • Report back to your donors
  • Communicate exactly what you need – the dollar amounts you need, so that you can ask
  • Explain other specific needs of your Chaplaincy Service e.g. need for volunteers
  • Demonstrate credibility
  • Demonstrate long term vision and work
  • Meet with donors, particularly major donors (someone who has given $1,000 or more to your Chaplaincy Service in the last 12 months)

A great case statement rallies people to the shared vision, values and aspirations you have.

You will see in the provided Case for Support that there is an editable section to write about your Chaplaincy Service.  In this area, write about how your Chaplaincy Service makes a difference – the impact – a story about a life changed.  It’s all about making a difference.

Use your Case for Support to help people capture the vision of chaplaincy in your community.

Here are some pointers in writing this editable section:

  • Write more about the results of what you do, then what you actually do (focus on impact/benefits)
  • Provide detail, but be clear and concise. Don’t use 300 words when you could have used 200.
  • Get a few people to review/ edit it before you start using the document.

Because this is an editable section – you will be able to change it throughout the year.

While this document includes general information about chaplaincy, this is a tool to use to help start a conversation.  This will just kick start deeper discussion about your Chaplaincy Service.

Please note: If the pdf opens automatically in your web browser, the editable fields will not work. Please download the file, and locate it on your computer. Then right-click on the file and manually select to open it using Adobe Reader.
