Almost 90% of supporters are at risk of disengaging

Did you know that across Queensland local chaplaincies likes yours are at risk of losing 87.6% of their financial supporters?

That’s a lot of potential donations to lose. But there’s hope.

In December last year SU QLD switched over to a new database management system, which will enable us to identify which of your supporters are at risk of never giving to your service again. The good news is that we will now be able to reach out to them, on your behalf, to help re-engage them so they will hopefully give to you once again.

It’s part of what we call a “lapsing series campaign”.

Why do we need to do this?

In fundraising terms, a lapsing donor is someone who hasn’t donated in the last 12 months. This means they are at risk of having no further engagement with your chaplaincy service.

If after two years, there’s still no gift then the supporter is considered ‘lapsed’ and no longer engaged with your chaplaincy service. In other words, no more financial support.

How will we re-engage with your ‘lost’ supporters?

We are hoping to include your supporters, who’ve not donated in the past 12 months, in our lapsing series campaign, which we currently run for supporters who give directly to SU QLD. The lapsing series is essentially a three-part set of communications (emails) that thank donors for their past support, and highlight the ongoing need for support.

Does it work?

Since 2016 SU QLD has been running the lapsing series to re-engage supporters, and it has proven to be an effective tool. In 2018 alone, we raised over $8,000 from supporters who fell into this category.

We are excited to see how much we can help raise for your LCC. And the great part is, you won’t need to do anything.

When will all this happen?

We will announce the official launch date to LCCs are the LCC Forums this term. Our aim to have this up and running before Easter.

Please note that you will have the option to opt out if you do not wish for us to contact your supporters.

What’s next? In addition to speaking with you at your LCC Forums, we will be sending a letter to LCC chairs this term, providing further details about what the lapsing series looks like, and how it will roll out for the LCCs who wish to take part.
