Director’s Update with Ian Cumming – Term 4, 2023

Welcome to the last term of the year! As always, it’s hard to comprehend how quickly the year flies by but we’re so grateful for your consistent support of your local chaplaincy service. There are some exciting things to update you with this term, so read below for the latest news.

Funding Round update

During Term 4, schools will be notified by the Department of Education about whether they have been successful or not in securing National School Wellbeing Program (NSWP) funding for the 2024-2027 period. We don’t have an exact date yet, but you’ll be updated as soon as that information is available.

Our hope is to see all of your school communities continue to receive this vital funding. It truly is an honour to partner with you in meeting the social and emotional needs of your school community, and we look forward to continuing to partner with you through the provision of your school’s chaplaincy service over the coming years.

Update on SU Australia’s search for a new CEO

As you would be aware, SU Australia’s Board is currently running a search for the new CEO who will lead our movement in 2024 and beyond. That process is well and truly underway and we look forward to sharing more news with you shortly once that person is announced.

Square devices for LCCs

Although it’s been a long time coming, we’re very excited to announce that systems have now been put in place for LCCs to access their own Square readers for fundraising events in their local school communities. There’s a seperate article in your Chaplaincy Matters email outlining the specifics of this, but we hope this is a helpful and useful tool for you!

SU Australia merch

We’ve been receiving lots of queries around purchasing SU Australia and SU Chaplaincy merchandise, and we’re pleased to share that we now have an online store up and running. The link is su.org.au/merch and you’ll be able to order things that are both SU Australia and SU Chaplaincy branded.

As you move through the rest of this term, we wish you all the best and thank you again for your unwavering support of your local chaplaincy service. This work wouldn’t be possible without your support.

Until next year,

Ian Cumming
