The latest from Jenni Dobbin – Director of Field Operations

Jenni D

We have received important news from the Department of Education and Training (DET) regarding ongoing NSCP funding for your chaplaincy service.

Applications are now open for the National School Funding Programme (NSCP) grants for 2016-2018. You will remember that schools had to apply last year for this funding. You were also informed that schools would find out if they were successful or not in the last week of term four. This funding and application round is the second phase of that process and provides up to $20,000, or up to $24,000 (in remote regions) per successful school. All schools have been informed of the process by the Department of Education and Training and applications close at 5pm Tuesday 13th October.

Each school will be judged according to DET criteria (including student enrolments, disadvantage, provision of an existing chaplaincy service etc). Schools will be informed of the outcome by Tuesday 1st December, 2015.

We are grateful for this opportunity for schools to apply for the NSCP funding. Please encourage your schools to apply. It has been great to have so many LCC chairs and others at LCC Forums this term and to meet many of you at our staff conference. We appreciate all you are doing in the area of fundraising and support of your chaplain.

Our Field Development Managers are also working tirelessly in your district to follow up meetings with chaplains from 2015 annual reviews. They are also interviewing and appointing new chaplains for term four, where vacancies exist.  As well, we are preparing for a huge number of camps in the September holiday season to provide children and young people with a fantastic experience with trained local youth leaders. Often camp is the highlight of a young person’s year.

Remember, our Field Support staff are ready to help at any time. Email support@suqld.org.au or phone 3112 6073.

Thanks so much for your partnership with us to provide a chaplaincy service to your school. Together we can make a difference.
